From the President
To all our members, and friends of the AEMT
Well nearly at the end of another year and I sincerely hope you’ve all had good one? The year started with a lot of trepidation, mainly over the effects of Brexit, but hopefully wherever you stand on the matter, there is hope and a good future ahead.
We ended last year on the verge of many new advancements for the association and 2016 hasn’t disappointed! So I’m sure we all look forward to 2017 with the same great optimism and hopefully, all the great successes it’s going to bring.
Our council has been strengthened no end by the inclusion of new and vibrant members, all adding a new dynamic input. We also welcomed Dr Martin Killeen to the secretariat, another fantastic asset; thereby further improving the services the association can provide for its members. I can assure you, the fresh and enthusiastic council along with the secretariat will continue to work tirelessly on your behalf, continuing to build on its strong foundations providing an association we can all be proud of.
It would be remiss of me not to thank Tim and his team for their excellent work over the year, likewise the council for their hard work and commitment, and of course all of our members for being part of our great association.
On that note, may I, on behalf of Council, the Secretariat, and all at the AEMT, wish you, your family and your businesses a happy and prosperous New Year.

Thank You to all Members and Friends of the AEMT!
Happy New Year, and a very prosperous 2017 for you, your family and your businesses.
...and initiated 2 member driven Committees
Training

The training committee focuses on the training needs and requirements for the association. Currently it’s focus is on the urgency of getting the young into engineering through apprenticeships with bolt-on training courses. Other focus points are; future careers that Industry 4.0 may bring, further education, practical training for employees, and online training development.
Marketing

The marketing committee examines three critical areas of interest for the association: improving value for current members, improving public awareness of the association and its members, and attracting new members (and member types) to the association. Currently the committee is focusing on improving value from the AEMT conference and events.
